Thank you for enrolling in the second part of a four part series.
Enter, VIG-I-LANT 02. This course, being the second course of the series, you continue where you left off. We are introducing surveillance and counter surveillance methods to increase your preparedness to whatever life throws your way. In a world of uncertainty, you never know when you or a loved one will fall victim to a “crime of opportunity”. This could be threats targeting you as you travel home, or kidnapping attempts. In this block, you will spend the majority of your time participating in a practical exercise where you are conducting surveillance and identifying persons of interest, in the real world.
During second block of instruction, you will continue to dive into CQB and structure clearing principles, while paying special attention to the citizen’s response of an active shooter. This block will encompass several scenarios which you may find yourself in during your daily routine.
Lastly, we will lay the foundation for V03 with an introduction to vehicle operations. These blocks are specifically developed for the citizen. They will prepare you for the worse case incident. There are no certificates or rewards in a fight for your life, so why should there be here?
In regards to this specific course, it will begin at 0800 Hrs at the Brunswick County Law Enforcement Association Range, 1788 Old Lennon Rd. Bolivia, NC 28422. The $25 range fee will be collected at the beginning of the course prior to the classroom portion. Unfortunately, this is something we can’t waive. This course will be broken down into roughly three blocks of instruction. Surveillance/Counter Surveillance, CQB/Environment Specific Tactics with Force on Force scenario based training and introduction to vehicle operations.
This series is not intended to be fantasy land where battle belts are worn with five magazines, hard armor and full battle rattle load out. However this is your course, so by all means if you want to bring said gear to facilitate wearing a certain load out, you’re more than welcome to do so. At a minimum you need to have a way to carry one extra mag on you during the shooting evolutions. You will need to have at least three magazines available so the exercises can run smoothly and we can obtain an adequate amount of repetitions. Your mag pouch doesn’t have to be any more that a back pocket, but you can carry extra mags in any fashion you’d prefer.
Make sure you have packed the items from the required packing list and have range attire for inclement weather. Extra shoes and clothing are highly recommended. This is a two day course and there is a building on site you can “rough” it in. Batteries for you lights as well.
In regards to the Force on Force training, please bring at least one set of junky clothing so you don’t ruin any clothes you value. Most students will rotate in and out as role players as the scenarios progress. Gloves are a good idea as well if you’ve never experienced the slight pain of a hand shot with simunitions. If you have any questions regarding this email don’t hesitate to ask.
Again, thank you for enrolling and welcome to the collective.
