"We don't rise to the occasion, we sink to the level of our training." This is absolutely the truth, especially when forced into a fight, flight, or freeze scenario with lives at stake. The first time to shoot while moving, to solve tactical problems, and ultimately to push yourself to your limits isn't when under fire. This course gives you the opportunity to do all of the above in a controlled environment with professional instruction. You'll learn how to manipulate your weapon system in a fluid, stressful environment, while gaining a solid understanding of how to actually use a vehicle as cover. You won't find better instructors or training at a better price.

This was my first class with Greer Group. I had heard nothing but the best about the company from friends and battle buddies who had taken their courses before and I finally had the opportunity to attend a course myself. I will separate my review into three sections; 1. Material covered 2. Course Conduct and 3. Instructors.
1. Material covered: Without giving anything away in regards to what they teach, I will say that the material and considerations covered are things you will need to know if you carry a firearm in a vehicle and have the possibility of getting into a gunfight in/around your vehicle. Prior to attending this class, my experience of employing firearms around vehicles was limited to armored military vehicles which could be treated as enormous pieces of bulletproof cover. The team at Greer Group take a deliberate and simple approach to dispelling misconceptions about cover provided by vehicles that individuals interact with on a daily basis. While many people who conceal carry a pistol may not see the need for a Vehicle Carbine class, I still highly suggest taking this course as you will see and do some things that may change your mind about carbines in vehicles.
2. Course Conduct: The course itself spanned two days and was well executed. The team at Greer Group went above and beyond to provide an immersive and realistic training environment. Students were afforded numerous opportunities for training repetitions consistently throughout the course. Guided discussions, instructor demonstrations, whiteboard diagrams, and practical application were all seamlessly integrated to provide students with efficient instruction on course materials. Furthermore, the Greer Group team has a well-developed understanding of balancing training with safety; at no time did I feel that we were conducting training with unnecessary risk or that we were not in good hands with the instructors. Furthermore, they stressed accountability on behalf of the shooter, which is something that is often overshadowed by the machismo of gun-culture and the mindset that superior firepower wins the day. It is exceedingly refreshing to see professionals like the team at Greer Group seek to instill accountability in their students rather that just pay lip service to "know your target's foreground and background".
3. Instructors: Jake Parker and Justin Morris are a highly effective, efficient, charismatic, and credible instructing team. They are easy-going but perfectly professional at all times; it is apparent that they take their responsibilities as instructors and teachers seriously. They seek to create an environment where learning is easy and discussion is encouraged. In this, they are supremely successful. At no time will a student feel that they are being patronized or denigrated. Individually and together they have a wealth of real-world experience and training which they bring to the course and share with their students freely. This builds their credibility as individuals who have had to put these skills to the test when bullets are coming back at them but also flows perfectly with their styles of teaching; they will pause a student in the middle of a training exercise to point out circumstances and elements of the student's actions that are worthy of discussion and consideration. I found this to be extremely effective in developing the mindset for fighting in/around vehicles.
In summary, this course was fantastic. I cannot speak highly enough about the quality of the course, its conduct, or the instructors. As an investment for my future and the future safety of my family, I consider the two days I spent with Greer Group to be an absolute steal and I would have gladly paid two or three times as much to receive the same period of instruction. I have taken courses with other good and credible training outfits and military institutions; the quality of training I received from Greer Group was easily on par with any other commercially available training I've received and far better than any military training I have received in more than 12 years in the Marine Corps. A note to first-time students, this course is not for beginners. Attend another introductory course with Greer Group before you attend this one. For military/LE guys and gals, make sure your weapons handling/employment is on up to speed before you register for this one. You need to be thinking and solving problems throughout this course, not just popping up from behind cover and blazing away at a steel plate from 15 yards away.
